Preparation

Ah yes, preparation! So, what you need is:

1. A computer, a keyboard, a mouse, preferably a brain.
2. Netscape AND Explorer ( if you wanna do a good job).
3. An Internet connection.
4. A text editor ( like Word, Wordpad, WordPerfect ( See a pattern?) or Notepad).
5. A monkey ( Just checking if you're still with me ) .
6. An e-mail address.

   All right, so I'll explain each one. The first one is pretty self-explanatory, but notice that you don't need to own the computer ( In fact, I started this site in a public library, since I didn't have the cash to buy one for myself.).

   Second one, ya need Netscape and Explorer; if you wanna do a job that ain't half-assed you gotta check with both of the programs if your page is displayed correctly. See, in order to stay competitive, Microsoft and Netscape put lots of commands in that only work ( or work properly ) in their specific browser. Even though some of these commands are great (marquees, for example), you basically can't use them 'cause half the people out there can't see them. Hence, you gotta have both the browsers to ensure compatibility ( did I really write that word? ).

   Third is also self-explanatory ( You wouldn't be seeing this page if you didn't have an Internet connection, would you? )

   Fourth, a text editor is absolutely necessary since you'll be writing everything in it. Notepad is highly recommended since it has less stuff to worry about, and if you choose "view source" after right-clicking on a web page ( in Explorer ), you'll see that it's the program you show the core html, so…

   As for number five, who doesn't like monkeys?

   And number six, an e-mail address. It seems that the e-mail address thing is totally off-topic but let me tell you this: without it you're SCREWED. Totally. You wanna get free web space, they send you your password by e-mail. Free downloads: need your e-mail. Get informative and valuable Newsletters ( Like the Add-me Newsletter, totally recommended ) : e-mail. Everything else: e-mail. So if you don't have an e-mail account yet, get one NOW!!! Where can you get e-mail address, you ask? Well, if your internet provider doesn't give you one, you can get one on a couple hundred sites ( Hell, you can even get an e-mail address from VanHalen.com. I'm not kidding.), but the best in my opinion is still HoTMaiL
